Ego:
a
person's sense of self-esteem or self-importance.
Having a ego is very well as it works as a
catalyst in development of a person…but on the other hand having a high ego can
really drag a person from success to destruction.
“I can do it well and so can
others”
Is an example for having a safe and
good-going ego
“I am the best at it and no
one can do it any way better”
Is an example of having high ego which is
a very big problem.
Having a good ego is
perfect as it makes a person improve if he has done a mistake. It also helps a
person to understand different ways of doing the same work and improving the
quality of work.
Having a bad ego makes
you rude and harsh. It makes you think that you are great and no one is as
superior as you. This leads into judging the work according to the egoistic
point of view which acts as a grenade which an egoistic person plants between
their relations.
Famous personalities which had high ego
problems:
Adolf Hitler
The ruler of Germany which developed the country fell for the ego trap because of getting power in the platter which made the
success climb into his head which made him think he is superior, dragging him to make
an err in his decision which finally made himself commit a suicide.
“Ego
can be your friend or a foe.”
-Manav
Let us learn how to not have a
big ego:
1. Learn to “COMPROMISE” and Accept a different
opinion
To have a pleasant
relation with the second person you should let the second person propose his/her ideas
and let them decide what to do although that was not the way you wanted it to
go.
2. Appreciate
others
Make sure that you can
speak and appreciate when a person tries to impress you. People like
appreciation and so do you…so do not forget to appreciate.
3. To
have a feeling that there can be someone better at this job
When
you feel that only you can do a job the best you make sure to convert that job
into a mess…on the other hand when you have a feeling that not only you but
also others can do the same job well you make yourself improve in the job.
Your Ego maybe in control if:
1) Your friends look up to you as a competition in order to “beat you”
2) Taking it personally when someone dislikes
your ideas.
3) If you can appreciate.
4) Comparing with others
